The Meredyth Scholarship

The Meredyth Scholarship will specifically support students as they grow and evolve at Everstone. It will be awarded to students with the greatest academic and financial need to make enrollment more accessible.

The Meredyth Scholarship was created in honor of Meredyth Ohringer, a former Redwood teacher who passed away in 2025. At Redwood from 2020 to 2023, she was a Learning Behavior Specialist and Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner who began her time with Redwood as a virtual instructor during the pandemic, supporting students as they navigated an entirely new learning environment while continuing to strengthen their literacy skills. During a challenging and uncertain time, she brought warmth, positivity, and a strong sense of connection to our community.

When students returned to in-person learning, Meredyth joined Redwood (now Everstone) full-time as a teacher for our younger students, Kindergarten–4th grade, where she continued her impactful literacy intervention work. Even after stepping away from the classroom, Meredyth remained committed to Everstone’s mission, serving on the Board of Directors for an additional year and continuing to support our community in a meaningful way.

After graduating from Hamilton College in 2018, Meredyth received her Master’s Degree in Special and General Education with an ESL Endorsement from the Erikson Institute in Chicago. While student teaching at Nettelhorst Elementary School in 2019, she was proud to walk the picket line with fellow teachers during a 14-day CPS strike. Post-Redwood, she worked as a psychometrist at the Center for Comprehensive Neurobehavioral Care for 2 years, testing children and adults to aid in diagnoses and treatment plans.

Meredyth cared deeply about education for the next generation of learners, especially for underrepresented populations. She loved developing creative activities and games to connect with her students.

Your generous support of The Meredyth Scholarship provides need-based scholarships to students who enrich our community while honoring Meredyth’s curiosity, joy, and commitment to learning, continuing her lasting impact on the Redwood/Everstone community.

Interested in applying for The Meredyth Scholarship?

The Meredyth Scholarship is intended to help make an Everstone Day School education more accessible by providing tuition assistance to families with demonstrated financial need.

All families are welcome to apply for the scholarship. To be considered, students must first complete the standard Everstone Academy admissions process to ensure that Everstone is the appropriate educational placement and that the program is the right fit for the student’s learning needs. Once a student has been accepted for admission, families may proceed with The Meredyth Scholarship application and review process. Scholarship awards are determined based on a combination of demonstrated financial need, academic need, and the potential impact of an Everstone of the student’s growth and success.
