OurStory.

Redwood Schools, a non-profit organization that encompasses programming for Redwood Day School, Redwood @ Alcuin, Redwood Roots is re-launching as Everstone Academy!

Combining “ever” and “stone” the name reflects our enduring strength and continual growth, and represents the lifelong foundation we build for neurodivergent learners, where confidence is restored, identity reclaimed, and joy rediscovered. This new name and fresh look mark a new chapter where the organization will differentiate our non-profit services and drive clarity as a separate entity with unique offerings from those of our shared history with Redwood Literacy.

In 2018, Andre and Kait Feriante left classrooms in Chicago with a single purpose: to make evidence-based reading intervention widely available to any student who needed it. Drawing on their experience both as educators in public and charter schools and as parents, they built an organization grounded in the conviction that the right instruction changes life trajectories. Rebecca Sinclair joined in 2019 as co-founder and Head of School, and the nonprofit arm of the organization was launched as Redwood Day School first opened its doors.

Redwood has operated both a for-profit services and products arm (Redwood Literacy) and a nonprofit schools network (Redwood Schools); both grown from the same mission: to serve students with literacy challenges by restoring confidence, cultivating hope, and delivering proven instruction regardless of background.
Redwood Literacy will continue focusing on individualized intervention and digital products. We
provide online intervention during and after the school day, parent mini courses and resources, and in-person programming at our Lincoln Park location and our new Evanston storefront. As part of this transition, our original Rogers Park location will close at the end of this school year as we move into our new storefront in Evanston.

From its founding, Redwood Schools has established itself by moving Redwood Day to a larger space in Edgewater, earning ISBE  approval, achieving ISACS accreditation, and becoming a Wilson Training Partner – all to strengthen quality, expand professional development, and protect program integrity. Growth across Redwood Schools has been deliberate and collaborative: expanding partnerships, adding in‑school interventions like occupational and speech therapy, social work and psychology services, and opening access points so that students feel seen, supported, and capable. As Redwood Schools continues to grow, we deepen our focus on offering a continuum of school-based programs and partnerships (academic, therapeutic, or immersive (half/full day models) to increase access to proven, evidence-based academic programs. We will build educator capacity through training and certification to ensure consistent, high‑quality instruction. We will continue to create inclusive, belonging‑centered communities where students feel seen and supported.

While these separate brands and institutions move forward, driving clarity in offerings and purpose, we hold on to our shared history, remain aligned to a shared mission for literacy access, and will collaborate as thought partners. Our support is now more defined, but always steadfast in how we cheer each other on and work side by side in our shared commitment to serving students and families.

Kelsey Dadey

My name is Kelsey Dadey, and I have the joy and pleasure of being the new Site Director of Everstone Day School! I have been working with Everstone since 2019, so the pride I feel for our school’s growth is so strong. We’ve come such a long way since then at Everstone Day, and I can’t wait to see where this school year takes us, our students, and their learning.

Everstone is a truly special place, and I am so glad that you are here! The community of students is so close-knit and welcoming, which makes our learning spaces pretty magical and maximizes student learning. I am so excited to continue to build up Everstone ’s best qualities as a community through family collaboration, Everstone Rallies, rigorous and individualized learning, clear expectations, lots of “Joymongers,” and so much more!

Throughout the school year, you can find me welcoming students at arrival, supervising students at recess, supporting student learning, planning school-wide community-building events, and striving to ensure that our Everstone Day community remains warm, welcoming, and supportive of all our learners. My ultimate goal is that each student maximizes their learning while feeling seen, heard, and valued. As celebrations and challenges arise, if you’d like to discuss your child, Everstone Day programming, I am available during office hours and by phone.

Outside of school, my husband, Jorge, and I enjoy playing with our toddler-aged son, Liam, and with our dog, Guinness. Our family will be growing in November with the arrival of our second child, and it is such a joy. We enjoy taking walks, playing at the park, and visiting the library as a family. I also enjoy expressing myself through art, such as watercolor and playing the cello.

I am excited to get to know you and your child, so we can create a classroom community that welcomes all and supports everyone’s hopes and dreams!
